This year I wasn't as on top of things as I would have liked to been but I did make a point to stop at the portrait studio that I've used for the last 5 years to make appointments for the kids that were convenient and worked well for everyone! I'm gotten wiser and there is no sense in trying to get all four together, so Eric and Sam were scheduled on Monday, Kayla and Jordan on Thursday and since they were all the same week all the pictures would be back at the same time. Sounds easy enough right?
Monday comes and the phone rings..... Mrs. Eagen, our photographer is unable to shoot your pictures tonight and the next available is in 2 weeks..... Let's just say Mrs. Eagen wasn't happy, the hair cuts the time of the appointment everything was getting thrown off. Sigh.... what can you do? Well this is what I did.
"My older two have an appointment, can we squeeze them all together?"
I know better, I absolutely no better but the half of me that still thinks my children are angelic decided that it could be done and not only could it be done I'd do it myself.
Did I mention that the studio bragged about their new digital shots and the many I would have to choose from? They did forget to mention that the prices quadrupled but hey that's a small detail right?
So Thursday comes and we get there early (as advised) only to wait not only until our appointment time but past, we snapped what seemed like a million pictures and the time came to view them.... the time came.... did I mention the time came....,oh this time they really were able to view but I couldn't see them as I was chasing Sam down the isle and trying to convince Jordan to watch Eric, Kayla was late to work and already had to leave this lovely bonding time and then the big announcement came, the little detail about the prices. oh and the coupons, they are only for the studios that haven't gone digital...... can you see my eyes bugging out!!!
So 3 hours later, OK maybe 2 1/2, I left, no pictures purchased, and 3 boys that were just short of being strapped to the roof of the car. It was fun... humph!
My solution: We'll redo them somewhere else, surely another studio and I'll get the full story before going. I was able to get an appointment at opening, no waiting. The kids are up, happy and ready, here we go.
I'm not sure what went wrong but if it could it did. First Sam would not smile, if he did he looked like he was in pain and I was really getting frustrated. I felt really bad but there was nothing I would have purchased and to be fair I told her that so she could keep trying. And why is it when you see that perfect smile the flash goes off as the smile leaves the face? So I gave up, I just wanted out, she'd take a picture, I'd say good enough, next.... four kids later and a whole pile up in the lobby with other kids waiting for mine, angry stares form other parents, oh the fun just wouldn't end. I ordered the pictures I was willing to live with and when she rang them up the price was all wrong, the only other person to help was busy and all my children had left me there. Other parents were literally yelling about the wait time and I had to resist the urge to shout HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the all of them. I very nicely asked if I could stop back to pay for them and left. I decided that no matter how bad my picture experience was that poor photographer was going to have a way worse day than me. Poor girl. 2 1/2 hours later I left, no pictures purchased.
So now I'm about 5 hours, 4 grumpy kids, and a few headaches invested into my Christmas pictures. I'm pretty sure my living room is going to turn into a portrait studio on Friday. I may or may not go back to order pictures.
SAY CHEESE!
Happy Thanksgiving!
